Dale Pahlke Arena Update

On December 3rd Icon Architects provided design concepts of the Dale Pahlke Arena on Dakota Community Bank & Trust Rodeo Ground to the Dacotah Centennial Park Advisory Committee.

The Dale Pahlke Arena will feature a ticketing booth, open concept pavilion, digital board, larger arena with improved drainage, new fencing and gates, new announcer stand, audio visual system, 4,000 seat ADA accessible grandstand with covered canopies, open area for the potential to have food trucks, livestock pens, contestant warm-up area, future exhibit hall and a maintenance/storage shed.

Dacotah Centennial Park updates will include accommodating ADA upgrades to the bleachers. The Dale Pahlke Arena and the existing Dacotah Centennial Park facility will share the existing parking lot. To plan for future, the Park District supported the recommendation from the Dacotah Centennial Park Advisory Committee to relocate the community gardens to the former south tennis court site, 608 8th Ave. SE in 2022.

The project will go to bid in December 2021. Alternates will be determined after bids are opened and approved in February 2022. The goal is to have the permanent rodeo arena in place for the 2022 4th of July Rodeo. If this goal is not met due to the current business climate and unforeseen shipping delays the 4th of July Rodeo will be held at the existing facility at Dacotah Centennial Park.
